Church Planting Ministry
In partnership with the existing Japanese church, we start new churches as daughter churches or independent outreaches. We seek to start churches that have a vision to reproduce new churches. We work in teams and need people who lead church planting teams or are faithful team members in reaching out to the Japanese people with the gospel.

Youth/Student Work
Only about 0.1% of the students in Japan are Christians. A few OMF missionaries are targeting young people by teaching English/German or other subjects at a university, having meetings at the campuses, and trying to draw young people in through events (sports, music etc.).

Support Ministry
Supporting our team of missionaries behind the scenes is an important task. Doing general administrative tasks, finance, IT and legal support are all essential to enable our colleagues to minister effectively.

Short-Term Ministry
Developing relationships is a key to reaching the Japanese with the love of Christ. This takes time. Our greatest need is for workers willing to come for 1-3 years. We have immediate openings for at least five people. Short-term workers will help facilitate the outreach of the church through teaching English, student outreach, gospel music (African Americans preferred), or as a ministry assistant (doing whatever needs to be done). April and September are the best times to come, but we are willing to consider candidates for any time frame. Language training and orientation are included in the program. Here are a couple of other options to consider:

Kids Ministry: Looking after missionaries’ children during field conferences, workshops, or during language study.

Music Ministry: Each summer, a team of short-termers comes to teach gospel songs to elementary children. This is a specialized team, where each member must be able to sing, and possibly also play an instrument. We would like to expand this ministry to other churches.

Critical Personnel Needs: administrative assistant; church planters; student workers
