Typhoon Morakot – Statement from OMF

On August 7, 2009 Typhoon Morakot struck Taiwan bringing extremely heavy rain to the southern part of the island. Over 3 meters of rain fell over several days resulting in the worst flooding in Taiwan for 50 years and severe mudslides in mountain areas. -

I knew that the floods in this area were the worst in 50 years, but in terms of loss of life ...this area has had little.
BUT today I discovered that in the mountain areas there has been some major havoc particularly with mud slides. -
