Radio in Rural Thailand: DJ Tim

19/10/2009 5:29 am

Have you ever had junior high girls screech when they heard who you're married to? I have, just this past week! I was asked to help with an extra English class for junior high students, just one hour a week starting this past Wed. The class went well and the students were delightful... and at the end, one student came up to ask me what my family was doing in Thailand. I explained that we were helping with the local church, helping English teachers, and that my husband (whom I'd called "Ajarn Tim" as he's known as a teacher) was helping at the local radio station. As soon as I named the local radio station, the girl screamed out to her friends, "Her husband is DJ Tim!" Several students were very excited. We hadn't realized that school students would be interested in listening to the program, and they were already enthusiastic! On Sat. Tim chose his music with them in mind and mentioned them on his show. So, as we come up to the 6-month decision of whether to continue or not, we and the church members are committed to see it continue. They and we see it as a chance to "sow the Word" in this needy soil. (Brenda Noble, church planting, Tha Rua, Ayutthaya Province)

  • Please pray that church members will come to help Tim, and praise God for the recorded programming we can use so that Tim doesn't have to be at the station every morning!
  • Pray for other Christian radio broadcasts throughout Central Thailand, run by local Christians
  • Pray for many Thai to listen, respond, and to find Christians who can encourage them in their faith
