“Is it Difficult to become a Christian?”

04/01/2009 8:47 am

Nikhon has a shop in Isaan (Northeast Thailand). It is a real old-fashioned, mom-and-pop shop with cooking gas, drinking water, things you need in an Isaan house. Even while he sells things, Nikhon is looking for something: peace for his own heart. Because of some bad experiences with monks, he is disappointed in Buddhism. Would the Christian faith be better? Is God for real? Nikhon has been asking himself these questions for years now. But, he had no answers because for miles around there is no church or Christian that he knows. Recently, a woman walked into his shop. She told him that she lives in Thailand to tell people about God. “I’ve been searching for God for years. How can I become a Christian? Is it difficult?” asked Nikhon immediately. For the first time ever he had the opportunity to pose his questions to OMF missionaries Jan and Jose van Eeken. Nikhon’s story is not finished yet. But, for the first time he has the prospect that his quest may end by meeting God the Creator and Jesus the Savior.

  • Pray that Nikhon will come to know God. He is studying the Bible.
  • Pray for more workers for Isaan. There are currently 6 OMF missionaries on the field. Six more are planning to come in 2009, and 3 after that. The team would like 200 workers.
  • Pray for the development of a study course for missionaries to learn the Isaan language
