“Farangelism”

31/08/2009 1:39 pm

No need to check the spelling, this is a word coined by the UK Serve Asia team of 11 who worked alongside the mixed Thai and missionary team for 3 weeks at the Nakhon Sawan Youth House. Going onto the Rajaphat University campus with maybe a guitar, some sports equipment, photos from home and a smile, we engaged students in conversation. Sharing experiences and a meal together, asking questions and building relationships, introducing the Youth House and the person of Jesus Christ, giving out and talking through tracts with those who are interested, even going into classes! We give God thanks for the many new contacts made, for the 20 Buddhist students who came on the FREE! evangelistic camp and for the 3 Chinese girls (Grace, Jan and Maple) who believed Jesus to be their Saviour from sin. (From Caroline Ringrose, Student Worker, Central Thailand.)

  • Please pray to for the Youth House staff as we follow up students (especially Post, Teeth, Get and C) and encourage them to read John’s gospel – may they know the truth.
  • Please pray for the Christian students to be delighting in the Lord, loving one another, sharing Jesus with their friends and accepting newcomers to the Youth House.
  • We long to see a new generation of Thai Christians growing in their faith and serving in the church so we trust God for a harvest of fruit that lasts and establishes his kingdom.
