A Thai Christian amidst Political Conflicts

Mr. Phan is a Thai masseur in his mid-thirties. Some years ago he accepted the Lord while growing up in an orphanage. However, his journey in faith has been rather rough, like his childhood. Being hot-tempered and used to making decisions on his own, he still has difficulties taking advice or submitting to church leadership. In the most recent political conflicts in Bangkok, he was invited to join the pro-government mob to fight against the anti-government mob. In spite of many words of warning from those who cared for him, he joined the rallies to vent his frustrations. As a result, he was beaten up during a clash and received multiple injuries. I believe this was from God, since the Father disciplines those whom he loves. Even though Mr. Phan has recovered from most of his injuries, he is still struggling to make a living and finds it difficult to “fit-in” to most churches that are frightened by people like him. Mr. Phan and I are still friends. We talk regularly on the phone, and I do my best to walk alongside of him. This is because Jesus loves him regardless of what he has done. - Please pray for many working-class believers who are affected greatly by the political conflicts in Thailand.
- Pray for Mr. Phan to grow in faith, humility and submission
