Pray for local churches to take up opportunities for evangelism among their own peoples.
Central Thailand Student Ministry (CTSM) team currently comprises of 7 OMF missionaries and 9 Thai workers. The team is an OMF partnership ministry with IFES in Thailand. Seven of our Thai workers are currently participating in the 2 year CTSM ministry training programme Trained to Serve which seeks to train young graduates in the basics of Christian ministry as well as giving them exposure to hands-on ministry amongst students. 2 are full-time student workers who have completed the training programme.
Each of our Thai workers are committed to living simply and sacrificially for the sake of the Gospel. They have each chosen to join the team knowing that there is no guaranteed wage, neither are they considered ‘employees’. Together as a team we work and pray to see the Lord provide sufficient for a basic monthly living allowance and rent for each worker. Currently our apprentice Thai student workers receive a monthly allowance of 8,000 baht each + rent, with an increase to 9,000 baht per month for full-time staff who have completed the training programme.
We constantly aim to build up, encourage and develop local partnership for these workers. But the church in Thailand is small and it is difficult for young Christian workers to gain support from local churches. We are therefore dependent, to some extent, on giving from overseas for this project.
